How was your experience?
A change from my usual Saturday night DVD movie. Live theater is normally not my thing, but it's good for a change now and again. This particular theater is convenient to attend and the producer was a friend of mine so I thought "why not?". This was the second performance of a play which I have attended at this theater. Most of the time, a comedy is in the offing but since "Laura" was a murder mystery, it piqued my interest. I knew this was a classic film from the 40's but had not seen it so I did not know the story. It begins slowly as the characters are developed with the tension finally rising by the end of the 1st act. The 2nd act keeps things moving along and then finally by the 3rd act you are guessing as to "who dunnuit" until finally all is revealed. The entire production was first rate as you were immersed into the 40's along with the actors. Since this is a not so large community theater, one really feels the intimacy of the setting and with the actors on the stage.
