How was your experience?
Found this Goldstar deal when setting up a trip to San Diego. I went with my husband and we had a great time (aside from the initial bickering while we were trying to get each other's paddling rhythm and style). The staff was enthusiastic and friendly and we had a good group of kayakers. We got lucky with terrific weather for the 10:00am trip. Once we paddled out a bit, we saw many leopard sharks, garibaldi, minnows, sea lions, dolphins, sea birds and my husband saw a ray (manta ray, I think). Also, we were able to go into one of the La Jolla Caves. All in all a terrific trip. Parking tip: There does not seem to be a dedicated parking lot, but parking on residential streets was easy enough--just make sure to read the signs for any restrictions. Tip for your stuff: Try to minimize how much stuff you bring on as it will get wet. The shop has a number of lockers, available for a fee, for any extra stuff you bring up with you that you do not want to take on the kayak. There are dressing rooms as well, so bring a towel and dry clothes to change into, but keep most of your other stuff in your car.
