How was your experience?
Got the tickets for Matt Nathanson. Gavin DeGraw doesn't do much for me. Matt was fantastic, and the opener, Mary Lambert (hopefully no relation to Miranda) was fun. Matt played his biggest hits and had fun mixing it up with covers mixed into the songs. Which was ...weird, but still fun. I mean, he mixed in songs from Grease?! (Yuck..) But it was wonderful to see him on stage again. I think he might have been sick though--he joked about chugging Robitussin all afternoon, mentioned his child is sick, and prefaced one song with "if I don't croak". Despite looking a bit like he would rather be home in bed, he gave it a valiant effort and was a lot of fun. Very engaging with the crowd too. Love this guy--a brilliant songwriter and a great performer. Gavin DeGraw's set was flashier (much bright lighting!), but he was not as enjoyable--I think it's just his music: it all sort of sounds the same to me. He is a bit of a one-trick pony, imho. Matt rocked though. :) :) :) Unfortunately, even the better tier of Goldstar seats were still way in the back of the venue, so between that and the non-thrill of Gavin DeGraw, down one star.
