How was your experience?
This is a classic Chinese play. Yes, on the surface the dialog might seem awkward and stage-performance like. The story might seem overtly emotional. But if you actually consider the cultural context of China, the ancient teachings of loyalty and virtue, you can actually feel the heaviness of the play and understand why it is a classic piece even in China. I actually quite like the set design and the acting. I thought the scaffolding worked really well for the story and the production was creative in the theatrical effects. I would recommend seeing this play, especially if you have an interest in Chinese philosophy and history.
