How was your experience?
The band was smokin', but Mr. Hubbard should consider putting the trumpet back in the case. I wish they had billed it as a tribute birthday party or he had agreed to just act as a bandleader; he is unable to play professionally, in my opinion. I'm not saying this to be malicious, and I have nothing but the greatest admiration for Mr. Hubbard and his place as one of the finest musicians in the history of jazz, but he should be gently dissuaded from continuing as a soloist. The show was a very good show, and the rest of his band was tight and focused, but Mr. Hubbard was all over the place (and I don't just mean musically). Also, would someone tell the doorman/waiter/whatnot that sweatpants are inappropriate for a jazz, dinner club.
