Wednesday December 17, 2008 / 7:30pmKirov Ballet: The Nutcracker
Founders Circle (1st Balcony)
How was your experience?
I seemed to have missed an essential rite of childhood as this was the first time I had ever seen the Nutcracker (or a ballet for that matter)! Therefore hard for me to comment on the performance, although my friends who are much more knowledegable on the subject rate the performance mediocre - perhaps due to the fact that it was opening night. Things I can comment on: 1) Founder Circle Seats - brilliant as usual! We were seated towards the middle and 6 rows back. Had a perfect view of the stage and some of the orchestra. 2) Ease of Getting Tickets - Definitely plan on arriving 20 minutes early as the line extended from the Dorothy Chandler will call all way back to the fountain (in the rain too!) The good news is the line moves fast - but you don't want to be that person running to your seat (as I was) 3) Performance Time - The show started at 7:40 PM and ended at around 10:15PM. I felt this was a little late for some of the kids in the audience, many who were asleep by performance end. There are two intermissions of about 15-20 minutes each - definitely could have done with just one intermission. Overall, an enjoyable evening at an affordable price. Thanks Goldstar!
