How was your experience?
4 stars because I'm a softy for the Nutcracker. The sets were gorgeous and the principal female Evgenia Obraztsova was phenomenal. Even though she appeared to be having an off-balance night, her expressiveness was captivating and made up for all the other flaws of the night. She was pure brilliance! That said, I agree with the other reviews. The additional intermission broke up the story, the dancers had to reign in some of their moves because of limited space on the stage, there was synchronization sloppiness that I wouldn't expect of the Kirov, and aside from the principals the troupe seemed a little amateur. I missed the usual story line and characters like the Snow Queen, Dewdrop, and a sexy Arabian pas-de-deux. But this might be the traditional Russian plot so I'll be open minded. Goldstar rocks on good seats at great prices!
