Sons of the Prophet
Described as "the funniest play about human suffering you're likely to see," Sons of the Prophet is the story of Joseph Douaihy, who suffers from unexplained chronic pain. With the fate of his family on his shoulders, Joseph's health, sanity, and insurance premium are also on the line. Playwright Stephen Karam's youthful voice expertly mixes dark comedy with openhearted affection for his characters to create a family dramedy with a fresh, modern sensibility. Karam takes on socioeconomic issues, the health care debate and the situation in the Middle East and draws from them bittersweet life lessons. This is the San Diego premiere of this 2012 Pulitzer Prize finalist, presented by Cygnet Theatre Company.
