The Steinway Society of the Bay Area continues its 20th Annual Piano Series by presenting critically lauded Georgian pianist Alexander Korsantia. Winner of the First Prize and Audience Favorite awards at the 1995 Arthur Rubinstein Piano Master Competition, Korsantia is acclaimed internationally for his richly varied tone and virtuosity. A true superstar in the genre, he earned his country's most prestigious award, the Georgian National Medal of Honor, in 1999. He has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras and conductors throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. His recent engagements include a televised performance of Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 3 at the White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg as well as performances in Moscow, New York, Boston and Tel Aviv. For this appearance at Oshman Family JCC, Korsantia will perform Beethoven's Sonata No. 30 in E Minor, Op. 109, Sonata No. 31 in A-flat Major, Op. 110, and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.
