After a multi-year, multi-million dollar restoration, Boston's landmark Opera House has re-emerged, after being shuttered for over a decade, as New England's finest and most historically significant performing arts venue. The theatre is one of the finest examples of architectural terra cotta in Boston with an elaborate French Baroque interior. Floor-to-ceiling detailing adorns the magnificent auditorium, two-story lobby, and grand staircase, rich in marble, gold leaf, decorative plaster, wall murals and mirrors. Boston's Opera House opened its doors on October 29, 1928, becoming part of a national vaudeville circuit, then housed motion pictures, concerts and opera. Now this magnificent theatre is home year round to Broadway musicals, plays, dance, concerts and other artists throughout the entire season.
