About Oriental Theatre

One of the first movie palaces decorated in the Far East style, Chicago’s Oriental Theatre opened in 1926. Over the years it has been fully restored, and was renamed the Ford Center for the Performing Arts Oriental Theatre in 1998. The ornate interior features an enormous domed ceiling with surrounding pillars, and the renovations have managed to preserve a portion of the original Dearborn facade, as well as parts of its alley facade.

Share anything else here. Just start typing... We used the "ABM Valet Parking" facility at 60 E. Randolph; I had 'prepaid On-line' for the parking. Although NOT being the last one to approach the area to request our vehicle- After about 30- minutes of waiting, we were the LAST ones to get our vehicle! Not a good system!

Share anything else here. Just start typing...If you think you'll need to visit the restroom during the brief intermission, the lines at any of the restrooms other than at the lowest level made getting back to your seat(s) 'on time'- a 'nerve-racking' experience!

The Emerald Loop is a great late-night dining spot, and it's walking distance from the theatre.

Petterino's is located at the corner but make reservations if you plan to eat here. Good food, good service and moderately priced for Italian food.

I highly recommend you reserve and pay for parking ahead of time. It will save you at least $10. You can reserve and pay as little as $20 ahead or you will be looking at about $36. without reservation and prepayment.

I drove my car and parked in the lot across the street from the theater. Parking is not cheap but when going to see the show you get a discounted rate of $25.
