About Walt Disney Concert Hall

An instant landmark when it opened in 2003, Walt Disney Concert Hall’s whimsical, freeform metal-on-metal design by Frank Gehry set it apart from Downtown L.A.’s largely uninspired glass and concrete behemoths. As iconic as its reflective facade has become, its interior is even more impressive, with cascading wood panels, a Seussian concert organ and — perhaps most vitally — among the best acoustical environments in the city, thanks largely to the handiwork of master acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota. Most know the Walt Disney Concert Hall as the home of the LA Phil and the Los Angeles Master Chorale, but it also plays host to a wide variety of alternative concerts and innovative dance works throughout the year, including seasonal family events, world music and even indie rock concerts.

As others have said, the underground parking for $9 is unbeatable. And the cafeteria is great; they were serving prime rib on the night of our concert.

The weather was muggy summer weather. I wore a nice shirt/tie + jeans. No need for your LBD, but it is nice to be a little dressy in such a nice venue..

Or after the afternnoon show, pop over to Little Tokyo, a few blocks down for a bunch of options. Ramen, Udon, even Mediterranean for reasonable prices.
