Taking mass transit is convenient and quick. The Staten Island Ferry Terminal is so close to battery park that coming in from Staten Island wouldn't interfere with getting to pier 62.

I didn't know until we got there you could bring you own coolers. Some people used this to bring cupcakes to sing happy birthday.

There is parking at icon parking on South Williams street. MAKE SURE you print out an online coupon to pay $ 20 instead of $ 45. From there, walk a few steps to Pearl street where you can dine outdoors on the street. You can choose from numerous restaurants and their diverse fare. There is NO food to purchase on the boat, but you may bring your own and can buy drinks.
