About 133rd Street Arts Center
The 133rd Street Arts Center is committed to providing low-cost rehearsal, performance and media space to the city’s arts community. Created by founding Artistic Director of the Horse Trade Theater Group, Russell Dobular, 133AC has been designed to eliminate many of the issues associated with downtown venues (small dressing rooms, tiny tech booths, prison-cell sized rehearsal studios, etc.). 133AC was built with the artist in mind, providing a spacious dressing room, and an enormous booth in its black box theater, Stage One, and keeping its Lab space an incredible 23 × 67 open venue. In addition, 133AC has an entire floor of storage, containing hundreds of costumes and thousands of props, in addition to flats, platforms, lighting units, fog machines and set pieces, all available to the artist at a cost far lower than any rental house. Designed by artists, for artists, 133AC is the only venue of its kind in New York City.
