The Lucie Stern Theatre is an intimate 425 seat theatre. Started by the generosity of Mrs. Lucie Stern in the early 1930s, this community center gave Palo Alto a headstart on its local arts programs. The first building was completed in 1935,and the theatre is the heart of many community activities. Now a complex, the Spanish style buildings are home to the Children's Theatre, the Palo Alto Players, Theatreworks and the West Bay Opera, in addition to the city's Recreation Department.
