About Spreckels Theatre

A relic of the great era of downtown theater-palaces, this pretty space has been a venue for everything from sugary musicals to rock and rap. Opened in 1912, the 1,466-seat theater was converted for film use in 1922 and back to live shows in the 1970s, thereby escaping the urban "renewal’’ that leveled so many smaller movie houses.

With its marble box office and statuary, it’s worth getting to the Spreckels half an hour before the show if only to bask in the ornate atmosphere before the house lights dim.

Or, add your own...There is a Wendys right next door, as well as Chipoltes right across the street, and several small eateries, all around.

Share anything else here. Just start typing...Parking in the building is a wonderful idea! It is ten dollars cash, and well worth ever penny. The attendants were quick, and efficient. I would highly recommend that you park here. An elevator or stairs, take you right up to the library

The Sushi Deli 2 is right next door! If you plan on eating before the show you must arrive very early because there is a long wait (35-60mins.) Also the service takes a long time to get your food to the table but its cheap and its pretty good. $4 drinks and $5 average sushi.
