Hiromi Kasuga Quartet
Hiromi Kasuga, a jazz pianist, composer, and arranger, began her musical life at the age of six by playing classical piano. Hiromi is originally from Japan, now living in New York. She began her jazz studies at the acclaimed Berklee College of Music. After graduating, she received a full scholarship at Long Island University. Her next achievement was a Masters of Music degree at the highly esteemed Manhattan School of Music. She graduated with top honors. She was able to study with great musicians, such as Bruce Barth, Dave Leibman, and Kenny Barron. This gave her a wealth of valuable experience. Aside from being an exceptionally gifted pianist, she is also a prolific composer and arranger. She has a love for arranging for bigband and orchestra. This has led her to further studies with two great master arrangers, Jim McNeely and David Matthews. In past years, she arranged several tunes for a big band and strings orchestra under the directorship of Alto Saxophonist Brad Leali at Texas Tech University. In 2009, she produced her CD, “New York Callin’,” which was named to the Top Ten Jazz CDs of 2009 by “Epoch Times.” Her newest album, “Rising Sun,” was just released, and is her finest compilation of original tunes, standard and popular songs.
