About Martin Luther on Trial

Although it’s been nearly 500 years since Martin Luther fanned the flames of Protestant revolt against the medieval Catholic Church, his ideologies still continue to spark intense debate. Martin Luther on Trial imagines a provocative courtroom drama where the German professor of theology must take the stand in defense of his religious and political controversies. Aided by his beloved wife Katrina, Luther is up against a wicked prosecutor — who happens to be the Devil himself — and a witness lineup that consists of Adolf Hitler, Sigmund Freud, Martin Luther King Jr. and Pope Francis.

It was interesting to learn more about Martin Luther. But it also felt long and wasn't always entertaining. The acting was good.

This play is for an educated, sophisticated audience. It was GREAT. Too bad it had such a short run. Maybe another theater group can do it. I saw it on the last day and wish I could see it again!

Brilliant performance and intelligent dialogue. It deftly intertwined theology, history, logical debate, and contemporary news.

I loved the story line. He is on trial to go to heaven and the witnesses are famous historical characters.
