National Symphony Orchestra
Though the Kennedy Center is its main performance home, the National Symphony Orchestra plays all around the DC area and beyond during its annual 150-show season. Since its founding in 1931, the NSO’s events have included classical concerts by the world’s great composers old and new, pops concerts, chamber performances in the Terrace Theater and on Millennial Stage, summer shows at Wolf Trap, and so much more. A staple of many state occasions and presidential inaugurations, the world-class musicianship of “America’s orchestra” has been heard on the Classical WETA-FM radio station, and live television broadcasts such as PBS’ coverage of Memorial Day and Independence Day celebrations.
