Reviews of National Symphony Orchestra

Though the Kennedy Center is its main performance home, the National Symphony Orchestra plays all around the DC area and beyond during its annual 150-show season. Since its founding in 1931, the NSO’s events have included classical concerts by the world’s great composers old and new, pops concerts, chamber performances in the Terrace Theater and on Millennial Stage, summer shows at Wolf Trap, and so much more. A staple of many state occasions and presidential inaugurations, the world-class musicianship of “America’s orchestra” has been heard on the Classical WETA-FM radio station, and live television broadcasts such as PBS’ coverage of Memorial Day and Independence Day celebrations.

A wonderful Pops concert that had the audience's attention from start to finish. Even the youngest members seemed to enjoy the program.

attended Mahler’s Tenth Symphony on Mar 01 2018

Very good seats (row H, just off aisle in side section) for an excellent performance of rarely heard piece (Mahler's 10th - last played here in 1986). A wonderful evening!

attended National Symphony Orchestra: Handel’s Messiah on Dec 18 2015

Good performance (esp the chorus) - Conductor had the piece played quite quickly - fast tempos

Seats were row H and off to the side
Would have preferred something back and more to the center

Fabulous. Great conducting -- with a Baroque flair. U of Md choir was magnificent, as were the 4 soloists. Uplifting in difficult times.

Awesome seats! Wonderful concert!
A few negatives...after about 20 minutes into the program there was apparently a planned hold to allow latecomers to be seated...this was terribly disruptive and broke the mood and flow for everyone...although the...continued

Great performance. It defies the imagination that anyone can play the violin that well. Raymond Chen is amazing.
