The Yoginis Indian Jazz Project
The Yoginis Indian Jazz Project delivers exciting, fresh sounds fusing Indian classical, American jazz, and other world music influences. Pianist/composer Yogi McCaw began The Yoginis Indian Jazz Project to explore the new universe of this kind of music. Since then several versions of the ensemble, featuring different maestros at different times, have recorded and performed both in India and in the US – in India in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture India and the prestigious Kuchipudi Dance Institute, and at the Northwest’s largest Indian cultural festivals, Flavors of India and Anandmela. The current Project is comprised of Yogi on piano, sarode maestro Richard Russell, multi-instrumentalist Bob Antolin on flutes and reeds, and master percussionist of both Indian and Latin styles, Tor Dietrichson.
