About Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra: Britten/Tchaikovsky/Ives/Ravel
This premier youth orchestra will be celebrating Benjamin Zander's 85th birthday with a varied and demanding repertoire. The concert opens with Benjamin Britten's "Four Sea Interludes" from the opera Peter Grimes. Then, acclaimed Ukrainian pianist, Anna Federova, returns to perform Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1. Following, is Charles Ives's Three Places in New England and then concludes with Ravel's Daphnis and Chloe Suite No. 2. "The BPYO is way more than just a youth orchestra: it’s a world-class ensemble that happens to be made up (mostly) of teenagers." (The Arts Fuse).
