I am a pianist, but no Beethoven. However I enjoyed the premis, with the present dilemma contrasting very well with the time and sickness of Beethoven.

DC's Diane Walsh was a supurb pianist in interpretating the haunting variations.

Congratulations to Arena Stage for premiering this marvelous, moving play. I see no reason why it could not be eminently successful on Broadway. In addition to the superbly sensitive work of the actors, the piano playing of Diane Walsh is nonpareil.

This is a watershed dramatic event -- tieing the world of Beethoven's composing of his great 33 piano variations, brought to life by live piano excerpts, to that of the challenged sleuthing of a musicologist to understand the composer's driven...continued

An important play from the creator of The Laramie Project and the director of I Am My Own Wife. Kudos to Arena for taking a chance on this world premiere. Stimulating and fascinating, with interlocking themes and variations of its own. ...continued

It was a wonderful, well acted and thought provoking play. It was also a great venue, with parking right there, which was convenient. I recommend everyone see it!

The live music really enhanced the whole experience. I went with my 16 year old son who's a musician. We both thoroughly enjoyed it! He of course did not mind the occasional nudity either!

Though it started a little slow, by mid-way through the first act I was completely engrossed by the mystery of Beethoven's 33 variations and the lead's own person stuggle and mystery. A great new work by Moises Kaufman that will leave you thinking.

A really wonderful play and event.

The Kreeger Theatre is intimate so any seat in the house is a good one, although you obviously want to sit in the center because you miss a little action if you are on the far sides. My Goldstar seats were...continued

Lovely!! You do not have to be a Beethoven fan to love this play! The interaction between mother, daughter, boy friend, good friend, and then Beethoven, was magical! The acting was superb! The pianist did a great job, and the duet she played with...continued
