WOW!

I feel sorry for those who left after Everyday I Write the Book -- Elvis & The Sugarcanes went on to play so much more and it was magical.

Elvis Costello is a legend, but I wish I would have realized that his current traveling gig was with the SOUTHERN almost Country Western-type group called the Sugarcanes, because I wanted to hear his popular NON-country songs.

Though the...continued

This was a pretty good evening at the Greek. The bad news first: I was dissapointed by the sound system at the Greek. Trebles were brittle and bass was sloppy, to the point of distraction. And apparently there must have been feedback trouble...continued

I've probably seen him a dozen times, and this show was among my faves.

Tracy mentioned "Everyday..." His re-working of that was one of the highlights for me.

Does anyone know if he (just) wrote that first song with Lucinda?

Great opening set from Lucinda Williams, then Elvis came on to go way off the reservation, opening with Mystery Train covering the Velvet Underground's Femme Fatal, the Stone's Happy, Grateful Dead's Friend of the Devil and a few more. The...continued

This was quite an enjoyable concert, the venue (Greek Theatre) was wonderful as always (except for the stacked parking which sucks), and most of the fans around us were well-behaved. The process for picking up our tix at Will Call went...continued

Elvis is a fabulous performer. His voice is like no other.
I loved the music and the performers along side. I've seen Elvis so many times, that a 'different' performance was very welcome.
Now if he'd just perform 'Imperial Bedroom' with the LA...continued

Awesome!! Great country sound with Elvis's brooding lyrics and sensibility well intact. Totally loved it.

Brilliant. I loved his cover choices and his reinterpretations of his classics. The Appalachian string band sound fit his murder ballads gorgeously. Most satisfying Elvis incarnation in a long time.

He is a great artist and a producer but I do not think he is a great vocalist.
