Run: do not walk to this production of "Fake" that wonders who was responsible for the Piltdown hoax. Each actor plays a dual role brilliantly especially Francis Guinan as Doyle & Cole but all are fabulous. The costumes & set design are fantastic:...continued

The acting and the stage decorations were very good. The play itself - not so good. A bit disappointing.

Acting was good but the accents drifted off at times. Using the same actors for different roles in different periods was creative but a bit confusing at times. Good first play and thought provoking but I am not sure exactly what the message was....continued

Acting was good, accents not so much. Premise was very interesting and good start for a young playwright.

Great quality acting in a "dual mystery" based on real life events. All of the actors play dual roles, based in 1913 and 1953. The parallels between the two stories are very well done. A good time out for theater fans in general.

I see over 100 plays a year. So far this year, I have not seen a more disappointing play anywhere, coast to coast. The audience response was telling; the applause of the sold-out crowd could hardly be discerned at the end. Terribly written...continued

The production, in general, was excellent. The set and costume designs were outstanding. Some of the accents were spot on (we saw the understudy as A. C. Doyle and his Scottish accent and overall performance was AMAZING); other actor's accents...continued

Slow, some anachronisms, not sure of the point, some good acting. Not as good as most Steppenwolf, but not as bad as the worse, kind of mediocre. Set was excellent, as were costumes.

Great staging. Really good actors. Rather dense story line but enjoyable none the less. A bit cerebral - which is a rather good thing. Wonderfully executed. Pretty good seats from Goldstar. Luckily there were three empty seats next to us so...continued

Play was interesting. Good to review the basic premise of the play prior to attendance as the scenes switch back and forth from 1913 to 1954--so that you can follow the story line. Actors were excellent, props good, story line entertaining.

Steppenwolf's production of "Fate" is both entertaining and thought provoking. The cast is excellent and the production first rate.

Intellectually interesting since I did not know about the hoax. Because the play takes place in two different time periods, there were many scene changes, which I found distracting. I wish there had been a more creative solution to keep the...continued

Meets the high standards Steppenwolf puts on all its productions: interesting play, strong cast, effective staging/lighting/et. al.
As others have mentioned the play itself isn't as great as others we've seen at Steppenwolf but definitely worth...continued

As always, the actors were superb. However, the storyline was weak, having indicated that it would deal with the conflict/contrast between science and religion. Instead, the playwright chose to focus on the relationships behind the scandal of the...continued
