Being a fan of the 1980 movie, I was very disappointed. Xanadu does not translate well to the stage and a lot was lost in trying to make it a comedy. The jokes weren't funny at all, the stage set was boring and never changed. The music and...continued

A sad attempt. I was hopeful that, at best, this would be campy and fun, but it fell short of even that. I would NOT recommend it.

I would compare the experience to lemon meringue pie: fluffy and tart at the same time, an acquired taste best enjoyed by the Disney Channel set (my 10 year old loved the jokes). If you enjoy self-referential theater humor -- or are an ardent...continued

This was a surprise. XANADU is a fun satire on the disco era and metality. It doesn't pretend to be anything but a fun evening in the theatre, and at that it succeeds.

The music in this show as you would expect is very good
however the production was cheesy at best! Not only
was the humor stupid even if it was trying to go after
the "so stupid it's funny" kind of humor it didn't
even do that very well I must...continued

A fun energetic evening! It brought me back to 1980. Great performances! The seats were nosebleeds but still good enough to enjoy the show and dance and sing to the music.

I work and play in the Theatre, so dirt cheap Goldstar tix are a no brainer. Unfortunately, this production was not very impressive. Weak staging, bad book (dialogue), bland set, small cast. Chuckled at a few jokes, but almost all were DOA.

We thought that the lead actors were very talented, but as a whole, the show does not work in a really large theater like the OC Performing Arts. Probably was better in La Jolla. Sometimes the set worked, such as when the muses were on the wall...continued

Get the $10 seats and go for a cheap night out. If you know the music of Olivia Newton-John and LEO, you'll get a laugh out of how they use it to move the plot forward. I only recognized a couple of songs but still thought it was an OK...continued

The stage musical of Xanadu is a silly, self-aware parody of the movie, pared down to the bare minimum plot to hold the songs together, then expanded with more songs by the Electric Light Orchestra. It revels in its camp and never misses an...continued

As a huge fan of the movie, the show didn't quite translate to stage very well. The stage was a bit boring, but it was neat to see some of the audience sitting as part of the scenery. There was some microphone difficulty, but the performers had...continued

Cute show. I saw it in NY while it was off-Broadway, I thought the leads were better in NY.

This was not very special. The cast was ok.....The show does not translate well to the stage.....at least not with this cast.

Not a blockbuster musical, but a lot of fun, with a well rounded talented cast.

My daughter and I really enjoyed the play, the music, the humor...all of it. This was a favorite movie for her as a child and it brought back many good memories.
