The cast was well spoken and the performance was only diminished by my lack of familiarity with the Shakespearean dialogue. It seemed mostly true to the book although the production was a mix of period costume and contemporary dress. I liked the...continued

Perfect evening under a cloudy sky after a blistering hot day. Acting was quite good, particularly the leads, and direction was especially creative, with Shakespearian language made easily understandable. Pace good.

The actor who played Valentine appeared to struggle with conveying the appropriate emotion for his dialogue to the point of being wooden at times. The rest of the cast picked up the slack nicely. The dog was definitely the show stealer of the...continued

A Shakespeare play not often produced; in this case semi-translated in time from Elizabethan [in Verona] to Modern times [in Padua]. Of course the verse remained invariant, but the action, drama and non-verbal communications all fit the respective...continued

First rate performance - we are privileged to have such a professional group here in O.C. The actors were all great but the dog stole the show!
Highly recommended.

The theatre is small yet all the seats are adequate. The actors were quite good. Overall an enjoyable evening.

A fun evening enhanced by the pre show lecture by a Chapman U. professor. This Shakespeare Company attends to detail and enunciation, so every word is heard and the story line is clear.

I've seen many live productions and probably most of the movies available that are based on Shakespeare plays. I'm not a Shakespeare expert, but certainly an enthusiast. This production was very enjoyable. I enjoyed the schtick with the dog. ...continued

I have seen a lot of plays at the amphitheater and they are all top notch, but I liked this one the best! I loved the contemporary feel to it and the casting was perfection. Even those who feel trepidation toward Shakespeare will love this.

It is one of Shakespears early plays thus easier to follow. Cast was excellent and made the most of their part. The changing from 1600's to contemporary tome when they got to Milan was very effective. Worth spending time with good production.

Energetic performances in intimate setting. Even with lack of famialiarity with Shakespearean English the comedy is easy to follow. Great talent lurks under the cover of general media coverage.

The value of "under the stars" is not to be underestimated - the outdoor theatre is an experience in itself. I loved the dog. The play was mostly a modern interpretation - light and pleasant.

Loved the performance, especially Crabbe the dog. Not often you see a dog who knows Shakespeare. He remembered his lines perfectly!

The setting is lovely, and we had front row seats.
I usually dislike when directors set Shakespeare in a different time period, but setting the Verona scenes in Elizabethan times and Milan scenes in the present worked supprisingly well.

Went with my 15-year old daughter on opening night. We both loved it. Every single member of the cast was terrific in their roles. Drove at least 40 - 45 miles round trip. It was well worth it. We had a great time! By the way our Goldstar...continued
