Review from KATHARINE MILLOY

I found the play well written, with often funny and relevant local bits. The acting, as always, was outstanding. I particularly enjoyed the performance by the magnetic Francis Gercke. It's a treat to visit this venue; Cygnet always provides an...continued

It was soooo La Jolla of 30 years ago to me. Property values, everything about what I want, the "Me ,me era", and indifference to others feelings when it comes to money. It will make some squirm and all will be familiar with the arguements. Still...continued

Great Venue, strong acting by main character. Interesting to watch him slide from anger, into rage, ending up in despair. Certainly not for those who enjoy "light hearted faire". Definately reminiscent of the La Jolla mentality from years gone by....continued

A wry and moving slice of life that prods us to examine our priorities and put them in perspective. Extraordinary acting - loved every minute.

This was a rather depressing play. Thought the acting was really good though.

This was a very well acted play about loss. Loss of family, loss of friends, loss of oneself and loss of home. The actors did a fabulous job. I also loved the intimacy of the small venue.

I've read previous reviews and expected a terrific show. We were NOT disappointed. The ending was a shock, of course. The acting was terrific. Cygnet is such a great experience.

It's a play that is very "deep", so if you like that sort of thing, than you'll probably like this...it just wasn't our style.

A wonderful story. Really made you think about individual needs vs the greater good. Jim Winker was amazing. would love to see him in other Cygnet shows.

Liked it alot. Actors did a great job of drawing the audience in even though my seat was on far side of the stage. Serious subject matter so don't expect to be uplifted.

Review from Mildcat

To judge from the title and the dialogue in the second half, the intent of the play was to raise issues about commonly-held property, and how such property is always despoiled because it is owned by all and the responsibility of none. The view...continued

Excellent acting, love the Old Town venue, nice to have local references and "sensibilities" in a performance. We enjoyed the play and recommend it.

Great acting, especially the main character, and it was fun to recognize the locales, culture and debates of the San Diego area. There was one spot in the second half that didn't seem to have any relation to the plot, and it felt like the author...continued

Another great play from Cygnet. A tragedy caused by the protagonist's monomania similar to Captain Ahab's and the selfish nature of those who inhabit the commons. As always well acted and thoughtfully presented.

This was a well acted new play in a wonderful venue. I can't say I loved it, but it certainly grabbed my attention, and provoked lots of thought. I was thoroughly impressed with the exceptional talent of Stephen Metcalfe as a play write. There...continued

Well played but poorly written play! The stage and the acting were good, but certain things didn't make sense and left the audience with questions. This was the worst Cygnet play we have ever seen.

I very much enjoyed watching a "local play."
Hoping that people learn what the title of the play means.
Acting excellent as always with Cygnet

As with all Cygnet performances, I enjoyed this one a lot. The story, script and acting were all very good. I took the message that "desirable things decay" as the "Tragedy of the Commons". Regardless of my accuracy, I was moved by the...continued
