My opinion comes from a NON~Bias, NON~Ethnocentric, open minded, art appreciating, and music loving place.

I was humbled to learn so much about FELA. I was not raised knowing this history, but it was the best way to quickly raise my cultural...continued

I was disappointed in this show. It went on way too long and at times was hard to understand what was happening. The lead male actor was very good as was the music but it just didn't live up to my expectations.

The Shrine (Fela's club) in Lagos, Nigeria was recreated on stage with live musicians. This is where Fela (Sahr Nujah) & his friends told his story in song, dance & acrobatics. Nujah as Fela was amazing; he played his sax while he danced around...continued

It's very good. A little long, so don't go when you're already tired. :)

The acting, dancing and music were all first rate. The choreography was inspiring and sophisticated. If the writing had been as creative as the staging, directing and performances, Fela would have achieved near perfection.

The Good:
Had the best seats in the theater as the attendant ushered me and my wife to the front, first row dead center.
The Bad:
Proofed to myself again that I am not so much into musicals. The staging was colorful and forceful as expected...continued

A big fun musical with a charismatic lead. The music is great--African beat with a jazz-funk feeling--and so is the dancing and choreography. The story bogs down late in the second act (with an odd detour that seems designed to give one of the...continued
