Even Verdi can write a clunker. It's like trying to rewrite a bad musical that just never comes together. Plot made even less sense than Il Travatore and it certainly needed the Marx Bros. to liven up the broken up plot. Seats were too far back...continued

The music of this opera was exquisite. It was a major treat to hear Placido Domingo sing. I adored all the other voices as well. The costumes were beautiful. However the stage set was unfortunate. The severe, checkered floor pattern, extended...continued

Just a wonderful opera. Placido Domingo was magnificent and each of the other actors were superb! I would definitely recommend you going to see this. Worth every bit the cost of the tickets. We had center orchestra seats that were excellent....continued

It was fantastic to hear Placido Domingo perform live. The performances on TV or DVD do not do justice. The other performers were fantastic as well, especially Ana Maria Martinez.

Verdi proves he can create a story that feels very Shakespearean without relying on Shakespeare! Domingo of course is the main attraction.

LA Opera's magical presentation of Verdi's opera is not to be missed as it is not often performed. The score is wonderful, and the orchestra played brilliantly under the direction of James Conlon. The entire cast including the Chorus sang...continued

Not a fan of opera, we attended merely to hear Placido Domingo. Unfortunately our seats were in the next to last row, thus we could not see or tell who was singing. Also, a woman two rows in front of us chose to sit forward in her seat throughout,...continued

Don't miss this wonderful event. First don't miss James Colon who
explains what is going on , on stage. Very important to know.

If you miss M. Colon. The singing from the first act is moving and so
superb.

The cast got 5 or 6 curtain...continued

What a wonderful night at the opera! The whole cast was superb. The whole production was designed as though you were looking at a painting with the lighting just so and the costumes in very specific colors.

Rather long for a work night.
The lady that plays Amelia and the plays Adorno sing well.
In general I like it and recommend for others to see.

Amazing operatic performances by a world renowned cast - a dark story with dark stage lighting. Predominance of bassos and baritones added to this mood. Domingo the star - but all singers were bravo/brava. Many minutes of standing ovation for...continued
