We thoroughly enjoyed this version Pirates of Penzance. The acting and singing were terrific, which surprised us, as we didn't know what to expect. We had smiles on our faces the entire time and were thrilled that we went.

Thank you Goldstar...continued

I'm generally a bit of a purist when it comes to Gilbert & Sullivan -- I couldn't stop railing against the Guthrie Theatre's take on "H.M.S. Pinafore," which inexplicably added Queen Victoria as a character, for instance (it aired on PBS last...continued

I've seen my share of Gilbert & Sullivan and this was a refreshing take on a classic. All the singers/actors were great, especially the lead Frederick.

It was definitely quirky. The performers were good. I'm just not sure if it was for adults or for kids, since there were some sexual references, albeit very subtle. An experience for sure, good singing.

This is an upbeat, creative and energetic punk rock version of a classic Gilbert and Sullivan play. The singing is fantastic, sets and costumes excellent and the whole show is thoroughly entertaining. There were very young children in the...continued

Rollicking, zany and fun. This isn't your traditional PIRATES so whose who anticipate tradition can just go to San Francisco and pay 3x as much for much less creativity in interpretation. The lady beside me was very miffed to think "some of the...continued

Great performances, interesting twist on a classic. Sometimes the music was too loud to catch the lyrics, but it was a good version.

Hilarious, totally unexpected, sexy, great voices, unusual, best performance at the Playhouse in years; it's more for adult audiences, though.

This show was fantastic. The musical arrangements were fresh and the singing was top-notch. The costumes were great (I especially liked the platform shoes that allowed the players to 'stomp' rhythms on the hollow stage). My only complaint was that...continued

This version of G & S is lively and fun. I left with a big smile, as did all the folks around me. I highly recommend this show.

A distinctive steampunk look and very strong performances from the leads came together into a satisfying "Pirates of Penzance." Kids are welcome, and the cast makes an effort to make the libretto more accessible.

It's really inspiring to see an ensemble of talented, dedicated actors bring to life such a clever script. The whole show is very fun with a punk rock/glam rock spin that makes it even more surreal.

super fun, very animated, highly recommend it! My parents(75) and kids(5 yrs old) and my husband and I all loved it. More advanced humor, but the action kept my kids engaged.

Terrific and clever "modern" version of a very old musical farce. The acting was great, the singing was great.

The Playhouse has put together a very funny, original and charming production of the Pirates which was hilarious, campy and extremely entertaining. Oh and totally rockin'!

Went to this event with my wife, 11 year old son, and our friend and her 13 year old son. We all loved the production. The music was live, guitar laden 80s punk/new wave style, fitting the presentation nicely. The actors were superb and the...continued

I was very disappointed. I've loved other Julia Morgan events. Costuming for this was low budget and colorless.
The chainsaw was the only funny part. Disabled Major General isn't.
I didn't recognize the Gilbert and Sullivan music, except for...continued
