huge disappointment. acting and direction of a high school production. Stay home! I actually left the theater before the end, it was so annoying!

Very powerful. It took me about the first 10 minutes to get into the play and then it grabs you.

Play needs development. Don't think it is ready for debut. Hard to follow, does not make the emotional impact the subject matter should invoke.

some of the worst acting I've seen outside a high school. The play had interesting themes. With a different cast, director and some work shopping it could be really spectacular. As it is, I had to convince my mother to sit through the second act.

Very good show, with some surprising turns near the end.

Very well acted, with excellent sets.

I was continually interested in the show throughout, which is pretty good considering that I was in the balcony looking down, and the dialogue was...continued

Very well presented--sets and costumes--and acted. A difficult
subject with wonderful (mandatory reading) program notes.

First half was good, second half was not good with some poor acting, extremely long and over dramatic soliloquies, with just too many words spoken. Less is the new more. The premise and idea were good, but the execution of the play was less...continued

An incredible, very powerful play about interwined lives skewed and wrecked by cultural violence and shaped by ancient traditions, leading to a punch-in-the-gut resolution. Very innovative staging that presents past and present at the same time....continued

This could have been a great play but it was toooooooooooo long and toooooo many detailed explanations and proselytizing to the "choir". It was a very interesting premise, good shock value, but one really did not need to know every single...continued

A 3-hour political play needs a director who can find its humanity & drama. Cary Perloff focused instead on silences & stiffness--a dire choice for a script with many unpleasant &/or underdeveloped characters & many florid, stilted mini-monologs....continued

"Scorched" puts the H in Heavy, as in heavy subject matter. I didn't know plays came this heavy - it's not for the feint of heart or chronically depressed. However, the play was well done & the theatre is beautiful.

This is such a badly written play that even had the performances been decent it would have been intolerable.

Carey Perlof, who directed this play and is the artistic director of ACT, has to go. She's been there 20 years and every year her work...continued

This was a serious disappointment. I'm a fan of the actor, David Strathairn, and his performance was excellent, as was the whole cast. Terrific acting; great set design. But the play is overly long, overly didactic, and not very well structured. A...continued

I found the acting and even the characters to be flat and two-dimensional best Typically I enjoy the high quality of ACT plays. This one left much to be desired.

I really enjoyed this performance. I liked the stage play much better than the movie since it packed a powerful punch without being so horribly graphic and shocking. The story unfolds and the mysteries revealed in a logical but suspenseful way....continued

The acting was very good, just a little long and drawn out for me. If you are looking to be dazzled or excited in anyway this is not the show.

We were not familiar with the story before we went. We wanted to be entertained, but the story was so sad and depressing, especially through the first half, it was not enjoyable. The writing could have been better. My husband had a hard time...continued

Despite nosebleed and uncomfortable seats, the play was gripping. Try not to get seats too far right, a lot of dialogue/action takes place stage left. If you liked the play, see the movie Incindies.
