Fine cast, excellent stage design and direction, but not much of a story to chew on. Emotionally raw and extremely shallow youth arrives at sharp-minded grandmother's New York City apartmet; a little culture clash humor; a final confession of...continued

It grappled with very interesting themes, aging, finding adult identity and dealing with loss. The acting was of a high caliber, however the play would have benefited by being 15 minutes shorter as it is written or some themes alluded to should have...continued

Although the set was beautiful, the actors were no better than what I would expect from community theater. They were competent but there was a lack of depth in their portrayals. The play was also a problem. Go if you want to see some light fluff...continued

It's a set of sketches, not a fully developed play. It was cute, but not something you would discuss afterwards.

It was a sweet but not memorable play.

Expectation was high as had read NY reviews but we found it lacked any real development of the 2 main characters and there wasn't much else. The acting was good but the grandmother didn't really let us know why she was a communist or why that had...continued

I didn't like anything about the play. I hate giving bad reviews but I don't understand all the buzz about this play. Time magazine is not relevant. I have pretty low standards but this play personally didn't work for me. The characters were...continued

I must have missed something, or read too much into all the praise reviewers heaped on the play. Not flat, but just not that interesting. Where was the dramatic tension beyond the light humor? I was disappointed because I felt it lacked content...continued

"4000 Miles" felt more like a solitary vignette, and less a moving play that reveals the layers of the two leads and their relationship that unfolds over several weeks.

The grandma Vera really made the entire play! Best lines, and a great...continued

Immemorable. That's the best word I could find to describe this play. While Herzog is a talented playwright, I found this script to be devoid of emotion and felt like I was watching the middle of something, with no beginning or ending. The...continued

Totally average theatre experience. The acting was not strong, however, it did improve as the play continued to the end. It took a while for the actors to find their flow with each other and develop a believeable relationship.

Nice play--tender and funny. The acting was a bit uneven for ACT, but other than that, I enjoyed it very much. The set was amazing! Biggest downside? Five cell phones went off in the course of 90 minutes. C'mon people!

Production at ACT is always good. Understand 4000 Miles had good reviews but didn't think it was a terribly original story and not that funny. A few laughs but so-so.

We felt we were listening to a bad soap opera...Acting was good but just not much subject material!!
Thank goodness we didn't pay full price!

A nicely drawn picture of a relationship between grandmother and grandson, sensitive to the challenges facing both characters. The story the relationship revolved around was, however, not very compelling, I felt, or not adequately fleshed out....continued

This is the second time I've seen a production at the ACT through Goldstar. The seats always seem to be under the balcony overhang, so acoustics aren't so great. That said, we really enjoyed this poignant production. Quality stuff at the ACT.

A.C.T. productions are ALWAYS well-done. 4000 MILES is excellent! An engaging script, a could-not-be-more-perfectly-cast group of actors, and a phenomenal experience. We had Red Velvet orchestra tickets. That made it even better! The box...continued
