Saw it with my 21 year old, Ancient Greek-reading , but oh so of the moment son. We both were enthralled, moved and provoked (in a good way) by the play and the acting/production. An absolutely MUST-SEE.

Scott Parkinson's performance was mesmerizing. This is no mere recitation of The Iliad (or parts of it), but rather a retelling in contemporary speech of many of the most critical parts of the story. The beauty of the adaptation is the way it...continued

I very much enjoyed the play. The performance was wonderful and the interpretation in quite unique and thought inticing. In spite of the fact that the actor confused a few lines here and there, 90 minuted flew by in one breath.
I found the...continued

I was not initially convinced about the Iliad as a one man show. I was pleasantly surprised by the powerful performance. The venue was small but it lent itself to the performance. Despite it being about a war long ago, the play reminded us that...continued

A wonderful experience. The writing is brilliant and the acting by the "storyteller" is wonderful. Not to be missed.

This was an excellent, interesting presentation. The actor male and cellist female were both very, very good. I found myself dreaming off into the tale, it was engaging and thought-provoking (my god, so effective the listing of strife since...continued

Powerful, gripping, deeply moving. Even if you don't know the old story of the Iliad, you'll be swept right in. This adaptation feels timeless, ancient and right up to the minute. It goes under your skin in this intimate performance space. By all...continued

This is a very thoughtful and intense theater experience that spans the emotional range from rage to joy to love and back again to anguish, though it is not all doom and gloom- there are sprinkles of well-played humor as well The acting in this...continued

This was the second time I've seen this show. I saw it last month in Berkeley, CA and loved it so much that I insisted on taking my family here in DC. It is one of the most intense 90 minute monologues I've ever seen. The actor had changed...continued

Extremely well-done! Terrific presentation, both in dialogue and the excellent accompanying cello work.

All 8 of us that went in my group (including teenagers, young adults, and those of us in the "older" category) really enjoyed the show.

Very compelling narrative and kept my attention and that of my kids (ages 11-17) throughout. Moving commentary on the nature of war and brutality, as well as humanity's capacity for empathy and compassion.

I want to give this performance 5-stars, but the actor was having an off-day; he kept flubbing his lines. Although that error might be excused given the intensity of the performance; it was quite amazing. The solo cellist was very effective....continued

Don't judge this work by The Washington Post's dismissive review. The reviewer singled out the speaker's recitation of wars and battles are a low point of the performance. It was the opposite for me as the list went right up to the present day...continued

The acting was fantastic, but I hated the show itself. It was extremely depressing.

A retelling of Homer's Iliad with a single actor playing all roles, accompanied in part by a viola da gamba player. The monlogue is in heightened language, with interjections at points of high violence in current vernacular. This "trick"...continued
