The opening scene was incredibly funny and well-acted, one of the best that I have ever seen. But the rest of the performance did not match this opening. There were some good moments but the reality is that with a small cast such as this, all of...continued

Nice set. Very good acting by Ms. English; so so by the rest of the cast. The plot was petty and boring - junior high subject matter. Rumor has it that the second half is better. We walked at intermission and didn't look back..

Excellent acting and sets, but the play itself was not exactly my cup of tea. Kind of hard to watch, as it deals with some difficult topics, but the acting was so superb, it made it difficult to give this just a so-so rating.

I can't believe this was a preview, since there wasn't a misstep anywhere. I loved it. The subject matter was oh so familiar, and the acting was superb. I am always impressed with SF Playhouse productions, but this is one of the best I've seen.

What a pleasant surprise! The play is interesting, funny, and thought-provoking. Even more, the cast is staggeringly good. Thanks to the director, the dialogue crackled and the sets were fantastic.

I did not attend; I stupidly made an error in the date and booked this on a weekend I wasn't in SF. I did not notice until yesterday, the day after the show, so couldn't cancel (although I am Red Velvet)

Where to begin? Neil LaBute quite obviously has a hate/hate relationship with women. The two female characters in this play are so one-dimensional (one screams, the other connives - and that's about it) that it would be funny if it weren't such...continued

Impressively professional production and staging, excellent play, although it seemed like the actors were still learning their characters in the last preview I attended. First half was a bit weak; second half was more compelling. Greg was the...continued

Not at all what the description of this play says. Although the actors were all fantastic, the play was repetitious at best.

another great, thought-provoking evening of theater at SFPlayhouse. Even in the larger space, Bill English was able to put a spin on the set that brings back the days of the old tiny theater and the surprises the audience with superb stage-craft....continued

Actors and sets were great but the story was just not that interesting. A lot of effort on a very weak script - a real shame.

Great acting by all four (though the two female characters not nearly as developed as the two male ones), great staging, witty banter, fast-paced. The only thing keeping it from getting the fifth star is it seemed to fail to really get any deeper...continued

The acting was great. The script was superficial. I guess that was the point.

This show was delightful. It was laugh out loud funny and it had an interesting message about the way beauty is viewed and revered by most cultures.

If there were an option to give this 4 and a half stars, that's what I'd do. It's a very good play and a very good production. LaBute continues to look at the tensions and conflicts between men and women in dating and intimate relationships.

The actors were all good but the script was not. The girlfriend continuously berates her boyfriend for the first half of the play and uses a lot of foul language in the process. We were sitting in the balcony part of this theatre which I thought...continued

Excellent cast and set design (as usual at SF Playhouse). The play itself though wasn't quite satisfying. The individual scenes work well, but it just wasn't clear what Neil LaBute's point was in the end. Still, a good but not great evening of...continued
