We are great fans of Amy Herzog's work, and were looking forward to seeing Belleville. Unfortunately, this is not one of her better plays...unsympathetic characters, implausible circumstances, and an ending entirely in French. What gave the play...continued

The craft of the play was excellent. Unfortunately I have no idea why this play was chosen. Neither I nor my companion had any sympathy for the main characters. From where I sat, they just appeared to be spoiled Americans unable to get a hold...continued

Very intense storyline...great show. Keeps you guessing at what might happen, and many surprises along the way.

The entire play unfolds very slowly, yet it captivated me immediately. I've seen it compared to a Hitchcock movie, and don't disagree. Acting was great, too.

Belleville was one of the worst plays I have seen in many years. If I wasn't in the middle of a row I would have walked out after about an hour.
I am puzzled by Steppenwolf, they usually have fine productions.

Excellent seats for Sunday night performance (1st row). Loved the play- will not give away the plot but suffice to say that it kept us on the edge of our seats the the entire time. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
We had a pre-show snack...continued

For that play, in those seats, over half the dialogue was non-audible to us (4) and a number of people around us. We have sat in those seats before in that theater and did not experience a problem. We have also seen Amy Herzog plays !! This one...continued

I would give it 4.5 stars. I thought it idid a great job dealing with issues of lying to oneself, lying to others and unrealistic expectations

Wonderful acting! Script was not what I was expecting, but I think that was rather the point. No psycho action needed. The really frightening part of the play is how people misunderstand each other.

A very well written play. I thought the acting was very good. A lot of play's experience overacting, which in this case we did not. The set was excellent. The only negative I had is that a person would not break into another person's house in the...continued

There were parts about this play that I loved, and parts that I hated. Sometimes the pace just dragged. Other times it was spirited and engaging. The story built to an exciting, dramatic crescendo, then fizzled. I'm don't understand what the...continued

Belleville is an emotionally demanding play. You will be provoked when you see it. It is not a feel good, escapist evening to be sure, but more of an emotionally taxing and thought provoking, " ok what do I do with that" kind of evening. You...continued

Expectations were high. Belleville is slow, boring and predicable. Who wants to watch someone get high or pretend. Sad that it was called theatre. Waste of our time. Hbo or Showtime series would have been nice to see in lieu of this horrible...continued

Interesting and twisted. Actors were at their best which made the experience even more intense.

The play was well excecuted. The performance by the lead actress was amazing. The play dragged a bit at the end (the last 10 minutes) even it was only a 1 hr and 40 min play. Please note it is overall a dark play looking at the push pull of...continued
