The subject is the true story of nine black young men accused of raping two white women while riding a box car in the early 30s. They are convicted and sentenced to death, but rescued from the gallows by a landmark Supreme Court opinion. But...continued

I found the story not nice, even if true the cast jumping around in song and dance , while waiting to be railroaded to a hanging.

Interesting play, with an interesting post-play discussion. The real events of The Scostsboro Boys were brought to stage through minstrelsy, which rubbed me the wrong way. The post-play discussion enlightened me to why this creative choice was...continued

Excellent production and a great cast. Very interesting presentation of a serious subject done as a minstrel show. The staging was amazing, done only with chairs and boards. Cast got a standing ovation!
It was a little difficult to understand all...continued

I really did not know the story, but I am so glad I saw the show. It was very good - minimalist set - just great singing and dancing. The ending was powerful. Would recommend to anyone.

The show is well staged, sung, and acted but it never took off for me. The vaudeville style worked in Cabaret and Chicago but didn't work with this subject matter - at least for me.

Enjoyed the show, lots of talent. At times the spoofing and humor seemed inappropriate given the subject matter but overall it was great theater.

The quality of the performance, including some excellent dance, was quite good. The subject matter was uncomfortable--which is precisely what the author wanted. So people who want a serious experience will like it better than those who just want...continued

Scottsboro Boys was FANTASTIC! Truly awesome! I would highly recommend this show. Dancing and singing were superb. The subject is intense so be prepared for that.. but it's presented in an amazing way.

"The Scottsboro Boys" tells the story of the Scottsboro trials of the 1930s using a minstrel show as the vehicle. The prologue confused me, but once the story kicked in, I found the show fascinating. Clever use of only a few set pieces and the...continued

Good story, but nothing really jumped out and grabbed me.
Singing was good, but the songs weren’t “Wow I have to go get the CD”
I think if they just stuck to the story and spent a little more time to make it stronger, it might have been a great...continued

Excellent musical full of surprising twist and turns (which includes Vaudeville Turns). Incisive, gripping, entertaining as hell.

Brilliant, disturbing, thought provoking, entertaining. My group talked and talked about the power of this play. I went home and had to read more about the obvious choices that were made about how to use certain theatrical devices. Incredible. ...continued

I loved it. The talent was incredible.....fabulous dancing/choreography. And the score was beautiful, too. I liked the "surprise" elements of unusual casting and a rather mysterious cast member. Might be confusing to some (my date) but I enjoyed...continued
