TRIBES was well-acted and thought provoking. While on the surface the play deals with cultural differences/misunderstandings between the deaf and hearing ("speaking") worlds, there is so much more going on dealing with communication,...continued

Very well acted and staged. The subject matter is difficult which makes it at times hard to watch. A lot of screaming and dysfunction as advertised. The end of the play was supposed to help us draw conclusions but it did not for me. The...continued

The play is loud and obscene at times but the characters and family dynamic is real. Once you get past the yelling, the play is thought provoking and will stay with you for days to come.

It was difficult to hear and understand the dialogue. At other times, we were assaulted with non-dialogue noise that was much too loud.

Awful, we left at intermission...dysfunctional family is one thing but a father using profanity after profanity over sensitive issues was simply not believable ...gave me a headache

fascinating show that highlights the interesting choices families make when managing a disability, in this case issues surrounding their deaf son. meeting the actors and doing a q&a with them during "talk tuesday" was also great. i definitely...continued

Many aspects and planes of communication are intriguingly explored but uneven comes to mind as a descriptor for this production, from the British accents to the delivery of some lines that seemed like simply a recitation of memorized words. Billy...continued

We had a difficult time hearing what the actors were saying and overheard other guests complaining about this during intermission. Due to this, we didn't understand certain parts of the play because we hadn't hear or understand what had been said...continued

Interesting play. We don't realize how lucky we in the "hearing" world are. The meat of the play is in the second act. Especially enjoyed the talk-back with the actors at the play's conclusion. The set was great and the acting was very good.

Brilliant play with outstanding NYC cast playing their off-Broadway roles. Thought provoking with many layers. Highly recommend for serious theater goers. LJPlayhouse very accomodating with request for seating for disabled spouse.

Excellent production with terrific actors. Gives one a lot to think about in ways you may not have ever thought of before. Always fascinating to me to learn about other people who have had different experiences than I have had and see what...continued

We were assigned great seats! The production was good, and I especially liked the creative use of captions.

Very slow start and not very funny. If they eliminated the four letter words from the first 10 minutes there would have been almost complete silence. The characters were generally not likable until the deaf girlfriend walked in and it picked up...continued

We left at the intermission, as there was no compelling reason to stay for the second half of the play. The characters were thin, the acting forced, substituting volume for nuance. The drama was unengaging; the playwright gave us no reason to care...continued

One of a kind play. Makes you think differently. Gives you a lot to digest. Very much thought provocating. Excellent acting.
The stage was well thoughtout. Makes yoiu feel as if you were in the living room with the characters.
Well done.
