The play's Our Town structure is strongest in the beginning. It soon turns into a story about the Holocaust and the proposed Nazi march in Skokie, Illinois in 1977. While an interreligious teenage romance is also centraal, the 1977 conflicts re...continued

The actors did a fine job, but I just didn't enjoy this story or play at all. It ended so sadly and paranormally and it just wasn't enjoyable. I can't see this doing well nationally (this was the premier).

We saw the reading back during the end of summer and was curious how the production would evolve on stage. Loved the show. The cast and the stage design crew at the J did fantastic job. This is a show not to miss!

I was entirely engrossed in this superbly acted take-off on "Our Town", and, in disagreement with the WaPo critic, felt it did have a coherence and universality, while accurately evoking the issues and environment of Skokie, Illinois at the time...continued

I don't know what message this play was trying to convey.

It's not about Jewish boy falls in love with Christian girl. It's not about "I abhor your views but I'll fight to the death for your right to express them." It's not about the tragic...continued

The play is well written. If you like Our Town, you will love this play. Unfortunately I am not a big fan of Our Town. The lead actress was quite good. All the actors and actresses were quite good. Several days after seeing the show, I remember...continued

The production was another superb offering from Theatre J. The acting was amazing as usual. The minimalist staging was interesting and did not take away from the story. The play itself started as being somewhat campy and frivilous and then...continued

Saw this in preview. Thought it was great. If your looking for a nazi story, this isn't it but I love it.

Much to do about nothing. We left at intermission.

This was not the JCC at its best. The play has too many subplots knocking up against each other and it is over-acted. The Stage Manager character (a la Our Town) is too cute by half and the actor over-plays it.

I enjoyed the play. A few slow moment but great production. The second and final part of the play were absolutely awesome. Great performance by the cast.

I thought the play, Our Suburb, was exceptionally well directed with an excellent cast and outstanding script. It worked at many levels, informing the audience of the proposed Skokie, IL Nazi march, the similarities and differences in the...continued

Our first play at Theatre J and we shall return! The play and cast were outstanding. I read the Post's review just after buying the tickets and was wondering if I made a mistake. It was the reviewer who was mistaken. Perhaps the set was...continued

Thought the play was a definite period piece, the music and staging was authentic and the story haunting but original!
