Sarah Rule plays are always interesting. This one with a woman who gravitates to a lesbian cowboy who sang throughout rather than the childhood boyfriend whom she marries is an earlier one.
It was a challenge to understand what the cowboy was...continued

Sarah Ruhl's little old gem did not shine through director's murky and slow interpretation. The singing Tiresian cowboy was especially muted as were the supposedly labile eventually married couple.

Very interesting and out of the box. Not sure what it was about but it generated a lot of discussion. A very lovely afternoon.

My husband & I didn't know what to think at 1st, but we were soon won over by the terrific cast (married couple in the play), the quirky, original, out there plot line & mixed media of it all! When it was done, we both realized how much we really...continued

This is a clever, finely written play, with very good performances from all three cast members. Alyssa Wilmoth in particular wowed us. She was great in Stop Kiss, but who'd have thought she had such a fine singing voice.

Surreal and beautiful. Red's singing is not to be missed.

Sarah Ruhl's plays are always quirky, funny, heartbreaking, and thought-provoking. This one was no exception, and the acting and staging were fine as well. Go! (Plus, Signature is such an easy venue, with parking right next door and lots of...continued

Quirky! Great performances by the actors. A lifetime of experiences in a little less than 2 hours. Could use a little tweaking because the pace was intentionally a little slow. Signature's internet was down and although I appreciate this venue for...continued

Had never been to theater before and was a little hard to find, even w GPS. Once we got there we were very pleasantly surprised with how beautiful the theater was and wonderful the play was.

I went to the play with 2 friends last nite and we all loved it! It's hard to know which of the actors we were most impressed with. Each one had an amazing grasp on their role...and the energy among them was terrific. Wishing everybody good...continued

I could see how this performance would not appeal to many....I actually found it interesting and am open to exploring performing arts of all types! Didn't think the man-bashing theme was really necessary...could have been conveyed differently. ...continued

I saw Ruhl's "Passion Play" at Arena a few years ago and was expecting this slight play to be a bit more sprawling like "Passion" was. But with few characters and not much plot, "Cowboy" nevertheless generated a lot of discussion on the way home....continued

Performances were weak. Lots of effort but married couple was miscast. Woman who played Red was great. Can't tell if it was the play, the direction (distracting gimmicks), or the acting.
