"Collected Stories" was a wonderful theater experience. The Cartwright Hotel Theater is a small intimate setting. We sat in the front row, and felt as though we were on the stage. In fact, when the stage manager brought out a podium for one of the...continued

Three things strike me about this "pop-up" performance of Collected Stories at the Cartwright:

1. The intimacy of the theatre. Ten or so chairs are arrayed in a quarter-circle around the set, putting the audience right inside the living room of...continued

Excellent small production. Thought-provoking and serious theater that is in short supply these days. The actors gave their all and there wasn't a single slip in dialogue the entire night. Bravo!

We had a delightful evening from the moment we walked into this unusual intimate venue in the Cartwright Hotel. We were offered free wine and cookies as we waited for the house to open. This theater group completely transformed a small hotel...continued

Wonderful production in a gracious and only in SF setting. The actresses delivered all of the punches of the challenging and fascinating script like a couple of champs. Highly recommend it.

Well written and acted play in a very small venue so you are right next to the stage/actors. An NYC experience in SF.

Such a wonderful experience! The (at first) subtle change of power between Ruth and her student is fascinating to watch and painfully understandable. Both actors did an outstanding job. I loved every second of it. The Cartwright Hotel with its...continued

A very compelling and poignant story with many humorous moments as well as heart-rending ones. Ruth, as played by Diana Brown, was a complex character--feisty and self assured initially, but vulnerable and needy underneath the crusty veneer. Her...continued

My wife and I went to opening night and loved it! We were talking about it for hours afterward. The script is terrific (I can see why it was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize). It's not just a story about a mentor & protege, but a thought-provoking...continued

Get thee to the theater!

It is no surprise that a play by Donald Margulies is witty, biting, and the dialogue a clever, human, roller-coaster of repartee.
What is an unexpected delight is that this jewelbox of a production is so exquisitely...continued
