SF Playhouse is one of the best theater companies in the Bay Area, but they can't do musicals. They either hate musicals or don't respect them, so their productions are cynical and snarky with odd anachronisms. This one also has ugly costumes and...continued

great play, great venue and happy hour was a wonderful idea! Parking was only $13.00 when you give the parking attendant a copy of your ticket. Will definitely go back.
The seats were the 3rd row from the stage, we saw everything and heard everyone.

We left at the intermission...this theater is too small for such a big show! There isn't much story to begin with, so all the drama is in the production - singing, dancing, sets, etc. Unfortunately this was like watching a local theater group...continued

This was my second viewing of this production. It has even gotten better than on my first viewing. I saw it early in the run so it makes sense that it has gotten tighter, voices are better, etc. I saw the original in previews and have seen two...continued

I wasn't sure what I was going to see. My friend from New York saw the show in NY with Bernadette Peters, many years ago and loved it. Well, at first a little confused, but as the show progressed, I really liked it and recommend it. it's really a...continued

This is the fourth production of "Into the Woods" I've seen. I am a huge Sondheim fan. And this production was one of the best...great acting/singing, great set design, lighting, sound, and such an intimate space. I have continued to be impressed...continued

The musical was fantastic--even better than I'd hoped for! The acting, singing and dancing were superb! I could see it again, it was so good, and I never do that! The play made me want to see more of Stephen Sondheim's works and I will definitely...continued

Wonderful professional production...acting, singing, costumes, scenery comparable to shows I've seen at costlier venues like the Curran. I was very impressed . Also there is a bar/café space opened one hour before the show where you can purchase...continued

There is not a bad seat in the theater. Plus, this theater has a happy hour half an hour before the show and some free appetizers (cheese/salami). Not much, but it was perfect. This theater reminds me of so many smaller theaters in London. I love...continued

The actors/singers are very good and the dialogue is very witty. The first act is much better than the second act. Thoroughly enjoyed the first act. Orchestra seats are all good (maybe 10-12 rows of seats).

I especially liked the guys who...continued

Into the Woods is more an operetta like Gilbert and Sullivan than a musical in the Rogers and Hammerstein mode. The music won't leave you humming the melody but the lyrics are very clever and often funny. It's also quite lengthy - 2 3/4 hours....continued

This is not an easy show to pull off, and I was pleasantly surprised! Very talented cast, and nearly all of them were terrific singers. I definitely recommend it.

Small theatre yet balcony/mezzanine seat views were impaired by railing. Sound quality spotty so one could not hear all the words, although voices were good overall.

Into The Woods is a difficult show to do but SF Playhouse did it well enough. All the performers were either great singers or actors and a few were both.
