I heard great things about The Spazmatics from a friend - that it was his favorite cover band and fun to watch. I finally went to check em out and I'd have to agree. They were fun, great music selection that everyone was gettin down to, and hilarious characters/costumes. My favorite was the buck-toothed band geek.
I'd never been to the Canyon Club until that night. It's a pretty big venue and nice inside. Parking is free which is a nice change of pace from the clubs in LA. Checked ID at the door, no problem with the tickets being at will call. The band didn't start when this event listing stated they would start but it was no big deal. I met up with some friends there and had drinks. Bartenders are attentive but prices are not that great. Other club-goers were very friendly and approachable so we were able to kill time until the band took the stage. There seems to be some older regulars but most of the crowd was in their 20s and 30s.
While waiting, the club played hip hop music but nobody was really dancing. After the band started, everyone got on the dancefloor to rock out. When the band took a short break midway, everyone started dancing to the hip hop music they played inbetween. Once the band was done, they played hip hop again and ppl were still on the dancefloor. So... for me, overall it was a fun night because I loved the band and I also love to dance so I got a good balance from this event.
You can dress in pretty casual clothes like t-shirt & jeans. Bathroom was spacious and clean and you don't have to tip anyone for a towel to dry your hands with. Smoking allowed outside in the patio area of the club.

The Spazmatics are a really fun and talented 80's New Wave cover band, and they certainly entertained the crowd at the Canyon Club during the event. The only negative I have is that their set seemed shorter than normal, but maybe that was to make...continued
