It's been a long, hard winter, but now it's making way for spring. Climb aboard the Patriot II, a multi-million dollar high-speed catamaran, and set sail on the Potomac, taking in the sights of the capitol and the gorgeous cherry trees, which, if you are lucky, will be in full bloom. You have only a limited window of time to soak in their beauty of the blossoms and capture photos commemorating the historic occasion, so don't miss this unique way to view one of D.C.'s most popular features. While on board, let the wind blow through your hair on an outdoor deck, or relax in the climate-controlled interior cabin, and enjoy snacks and refreshments available for purchase from two onboard bars. The view to see the fireworks was excellent. The other guests on the cruise were friendly and fun. The boat is not very nice and looks like it needs painting, etc. We will look for another boat for next year that is somewhat more upscale. This boat is "bare bones," to say the least.

Whatever your political viewpoints, there’s definitely one thing that Washington, D.C. always gets right, and that’s celebrating the birth of our nation. You don’t have to watch the pyrotechnics at home on CNN; you can be there in the midst of the festivities of sounds and colors that mark the dawn of the United States of America in all her historic glory.
Each year, the National Mall hosts the day-long events that honor Independence Day in Washington, D.C., including the breathtaking fireworks display that is mimicked all over the nation from small-town backyards to supersized metropolitan cities. In America’s capitol area, there’s no place more exciting than aboard a cruise boat on the Potomac River when the food and drinks are served, the party music plays, old friends are greeted, new friends are made and the show begins. The ship will drop anchor at the Washington Monument, the undisputed best place to view this merry display.
