Experience a pair of magnificent Claude Debussy premieres and Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 (Pastoral
) during this spring concert celebrating Mother's Day. The program includes the world premiere of Debussy's Diane Overture arranged for orchestra by Virginia Chamber Orchestra's music director Emil de Cou. The piece was originally composed as a companion piece to Diane au bois
and will be performed for the first time in the composer's intended version for orchestra before the opera. VCO will be joined by soprano Emma McDermott and tenor Mauricio Miranda to perform Debussy's unfinished opera Diane au bois
-- its first American performance. This concert will be part of Virginia's statewide celebration titled "Minds Wide Open: Virginia Celebrates Children and the Arts."
