Jazz Violinist Mads Tolling's Playing the '60s
Two-time Grammy Award-winning violinist Mads Tolling joins Grammy-nominated pianist John R. Burr for Playing the '60s. Tolling is last year's winner of the DownBeat Critics Poll Rising Star Award and is a former longtime member of Stanley Clarke's Band and the Turtle Island Quartet. He's been featured on NPR's Morning Edition and in the Washington Post, and he has performed with Kenny Barron, Ramsey Lewis and Paquito D'Rivera. Last year, Tolling released his Playing the '60s album, which instantly became a favorite amongst fans and critics alike, and landed in the top 30 for two months straight on U.S. jazz radio. Tolling has created a fun and exciting show that touches on the nostalgic as well as the contemporary. It includes timeless movie themes, popular TV classics, and celebrated songs ranging from "Mission Impossible" and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" to "Georgia on My Mind" and "A Taste of Honey."
