Not Synetic's best work, but still interesting and enjoyable. The piece would've flowed better/been more coherent if the subplot had been simplified or trimmed. However, the costumes, makeup, performers and score were very good. Enjoyed the...continued

went to see King Lear at the Synethics. WOW ! They told the story of King Lear without uttering a word. They did it with dance and physical gesture. Very drammatic effects thru facial expression, lightning, and physical movements. I definitely...continued

Superb production -- one of their best wordless Shakespeares. The setting and costumes appeared very Fellini-like and were excellent. The emotion conveyed without words bowled me over. Lear going mad was such a powerful experience.

The seventh installment of Synetic’s renowned “Silent Shakespeare” series is a provocative take on the Bard’s dramatic masterpiece. Director Paata Tsikurishvili brings lightness to this dark and violent tale of a king’s descent into madness and his search for humanity. This eye‐popping production, packed with apocalyptic visuals, farce, knife‐play and acrobatics is performed in Crystal City, VA. at the Crystal City Theater.

Overall, Synetic has earned 83 Helen Hayes Nominations and received 21 Helen Hayes Awards, garnering acclaim for its “Silent Shakespeare” repertoire (Hamlet…the rest is silence, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, _Antony and Cleopatra _and Othello).
