Song, Dance and Beauty Shop Confessions in 'da Kink in My Hair
It's the hit play that won accolades, touched audiences and served as the inspiration for one of Canada's funniest sitcoms: 'da Kink in My Hair. Working in the heart of Toronto's Little Jamaica, hair stylist Novelette delves into the tresses and stresses of her neighborhood clientele. The eight women who come into Novelette's shop bring with them extraordinary stories of hardship as well as stirring tales of hope. Told in a kaleidoscope of drumming, singing and dance, these stories reflect the lived experiences of many recent Caribbean immigrants, but also speak to universal struggles. Written by celebrated comedian and actor Trey Anthony (The Chris Rock Show), this powerful piece of theater comes to the Cobb Energy Centre.
