Hamlet, Staged as Shakespeare Would Have Presented It
Considered by many to be the greatest play ever written, Shakespeare's Hamlet is a tragic tale of murder and revenge on the fringes of sanity. After learning of his father (the king's) death, Hamlet comes home to find his uncle married to his mother and installed on the Danish throne. At night, the ghost of the old king demands that Hamlet avenge his "foul and most unnatural murder." Baltimore Shakespeare Company presents Hamlet using staging techniques used on the Elizabethan stages of the 1590s, complete with universal lighting that allows the actors to see and interact with the audience. And just as Shakespeare's actors would have entertained audiences with the songs of the day, you'll be treated to thematically appropriate songs prior to the show and during intermission.
