Our family liked this museum so much that we bought a membership. We have since been about 10+ times. It's a fun day because when the kids are done playing, you can go to a nearby restaurant or walk over to the Inner Harbor for ice cream or a meal.
Kids 8-10 will especially like solving the mystery on the upper floor. All kids seem to love the indoor climbing structure, which is pretty impressive. My kids get sweaty, which means it's good exercise. Great museum!
Age Recommendation: The majority of the Museum’s exhibits and programs are designed for children age 2 through 10. For children under 2, there is the Tot Trails exhibit and The Oasis. The museum also offers a variety of early childhood programs that run throughout the week.
Strollers: Port Discovery is a stroller friendly Museum. There are also designated Stroller Parking areas throughout the Museum.
Accessibility: The three levels of interactive exhibits are wheelchair accessible.
Timing: To best experience the exhibits, it is recommended that you plan 2 to 3 hours for your visit.
Re-Entry: You will receive a coded bracelet upon admission that will allow you access back into the Museum throughout the day of your visit. Be sure not to remove the bracelets upon exiting if you intend to return. The museum will match each child to an adult upon exiting via your bracelet number code.
Food and Drinks: You may bring your own lunch, but please note that there are no storage facilities for food available at the Museum. Food and drinks are prohibited in all exhibit areas, but there is a designated eating area available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Locker/Coat Check: Lockers and a coat room area are located inside The Pier on the first floor. Lockers are $1 (one token) for small lockers and $2 (2 tokens) for large lockers. The token machine only accepts $1 bills and can be found in The Pier. Please note that these facilities are used at your own risk and the Museum is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
